Justin is a member of the Allegany County Emergency Services Local #1715 and the Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department.
On January 13th, Justin was preparing the station and ambulance for shift change when we believe he lost his balance and fell backwards from the ambulance. The oncoming crew found him altered and confused, complaining of back pain. He was transported to UPMC, where he was admitted for several days for observation and pain management. He was later diagnosed with a TBI at WVU Ruby.
Since discharge, he has had follow-up appointments at WVU TBI Clinic for OT, PT for ongoing memory issues, headaches & weakness. He will continue to have additional appointments for monitoring and is expected to remain off work for an extended period of time as this will be a long recovery.
